BMA History
In the beginning
The Boulder Offroad Alliance (BOA) was founded in the spring of 1991 by a small group of biking enthusiasts to provide a service organization and a voice for mountain bikers in Boulder County. In 2006 the organization's name was changed to the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance (BMA). At the end of 1991 BOA had 38 members and had organized two trail projects. By the end of 2009 the paid membership had grown to over 400, the active email list was more than 2,000, and BMA had sponsored 156 trail projects involving more than 5,300 volunteers and contributing more than 24,000 hours of labor to Boulder trails.
Past and present leadership
Hundreds of volunteers have worked for more than a decade to create and maintain BMA. Without their efforts BMA could not exist. Although we can't list all our contributors here we would like to recognize our past and present presidents and directors.
